This website provides public information about the appeal of a zoning decision in the City & Borough of Juneau, Alaska.  A description of the case is set out below. On September 18, 2013 Bicknell, Inc. applied to the CBJ Planning Commission for a change in the zoning of property owned by Bicknell on Yandukin Dr. between Egan Drive and the southern end of the airport runway. Bicknell sought to have the zoning changed from Rural Reserve to a mixture of Rural Reserve, Light Commercial, and Industrial. At its meeting of November 26, 2013, the Commission denied the rezone request. On February 3, 2014 Bicknell appealed the denial to the CBJ Assembly. On March 10, 2014, The Assembly referred the case to a hearing officer. Territorial Sportsmen, Inc. has joined the case as an appellee-intervenor in opposition to the rezone request.

The parties and the hearing officer will work with each other to establish the record on appeal, define the issues, and arrange other matters preliminary to a hearing, notice of which will be published here. The hearing will be open to the public, but only parties to the appeal may participate. After the hearing, the hearing officer will submit a proposed decision to the Assembly for its action.  For further details, see the FAQ's.
